774122 2009-05-15 07:32:00 So I was looking at a laptop today that says it has an Atomfi Intelfi 1.6ghz processor. Is this like 'Asus' and 'Asustek', the same thing, or is it like 'Sony' and 'Zony' or 'Sonyo', a cheap imitation processor not worth my time? Jedalius (14903)
774123 2009-05-15 09:08:00 Are you sure?

probably just a spelling error

774124 2009-05-15 10:06:00 I think you mean Intel Atom. This is a type of Intel CPU that is designed for mobile devices and power saving rather than processing performance.

Intel® Atom™ Processor (www.intel.com)

Intel Atom -Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org(CPU))

774125 2009-05-15 10:39:00 No, it was specifically an Intelfi Atomfi

That combined with the cheap price($600) made me think that it must be a cheap knockoff of aforementioned Intel Atom processor.

774126 2009-05-15 10:50:00 I doubt it. Making a processor is not as easy as you think.

Even the cheapest knock off laptops in China use Intel processors.

Check again

774127 2009-05-15 21:06:00 Theres no need to check again, I know what it said. It did not say Intel Atom like all the other laptops I checked, it said Intelfi Atomfi Jedalius (14903)
774128 2009-05-15 21:36:00 Why ask a question here and when knowledgeable people here give you the correct answer and you don't believe them.
I did a google search and it came up with nothing. Where did you see this computer. Have you asked a salesperson about it.
:)
