| 608593 | 2007-11-05 04:41:00 | And I don't want an answer like those Oxomogon cleaner ads (pretty funny those). Say I have $100 in the account and I order something from overseas that ends up costing $ 100.00 ! How does the company overseas know how much I have in my account ? so that they can either put the sale though or not ? I asked the lady in the bank who opened my account and she did not know ! If not enough funds it gets rejected. Thats why sometimes when purchasing items overseas Via the internet it says -"Please wait - dont click again can take 2-3 minutes" its checking to see if every things correct. |

And the transaction will withdraw it from your linked everyday acct. However I spose it depends on WHERE overseas. $100.00 maybe more or less depending on WHERE you're buying whatever. And as it says on the site above, it costs $10 annually for the card and if you lose it, it'll cost you $15 for another. And 50c for ATM etc. And $8 for overseas transactions. And 2.5% foreign currency transaction fee for overseas transactions, which inc purchasing. |

| 608598 | 2007-11-06 01:27:00 | I have one, and it works just like a Credit Card except instead of using credit, it directly uses money in your account. If you do get one, make sure you have it so it takes money from a different account from your savings (or wherever most of your money is). Reason being as there isnt a credit limit if you get hit with foul play, or someone gets a hold of your number, they immediately have access to everything in that account. I almost shat myself the other week when I ordered my Macbook, and $1700 went out of my account, I didnt realised they charged separately for the warranty from the laptop). I was totally surprised that that sort of money can just leave your account without Westpac contacting you or double checking or anything. It does work really well, and it is good to have but be careful with it because IMO it isnt as safe as a CC. |
