608189 2007-11-04 04:38:00 Has anyone had experience with heat pumps?

May I have your comments as to what you think of them?

Wall mounted, floor standing, cost to run etc.

Are they worth it or should I get a conventional flued gas heater?

608190 2007-11-04 05:59:00 We sell them at work, and they are the cheapest most efficent heating you can find.

Floor units are nice, they are a bit more pricy though, but some people prefer to have something to stand next to like a heater.

I would recommend Mitsubishi, they are our biggest seller and one of the quietest heat pumps you will find, and a re good quality.

They double as an air conditioner in the summer and what heater will do that?

You can also get Mitsubishi models that will work as a dehumidifier also.

So really you are getting 3 appliances in one.

Heat pump
Air Conditioner
Dehumidifier

My rating: Highly recommended - 5 stars

I have them here, wall-mounted el-cheapo Gree branded ones.

Pros:
- Low power consumption (700w generates about 2.7KW of heat)
Cons:
- These ones are cheap, so aren't incredibly quiet, but quiet enough to sleep with left on

With the price of gas going up, and set to keep increasing in the future, heatpumps are the way to go. Do make sure you get a decent brand though (e.g. Daikin).
