607541 2007-11-02 01:00:00 Which is the best file sharing software out there?

I used to use Kazaa ages ago but stopped cause of the amount of junk and spywares that came with it.

Is there something which is balanced in terms of not hogging your PC down with its junk 'add-ons' and at the same time it is reasonably networked by large numbers of users

cheers

607542 2007-11-02 01:14:00 Assuming you're using this for legal purposes, then this thread is fine.

Limewire is ok, that's what I used to use, but torrenting is the really the only way to go.

Feel free to PM me if this thread disappears.

607543 2007-11-02 01:16:00 Well any of them just as long as u scan whatever BEFORE you install it / use it.

Kaaza may have spyware/adware.

But any P2P program, if you're not careful, once you download something (If u dont scan first), will install malware / trojans etc too.

607545 2007-11-02 03:53:00 If it is for legit purposes, go with the utorrent bittorrent client - No nasties at all bundled with it. Limewire free includes some nasty stuff. Greven (91)
607546 2007-11-02 04:24:00 Screw Kazaa, that was crap since it was invented. Agent_24 (57)
607547 2007-11-02 04:53:00 Kazaa Lite, was the bomb in it's day until fastrack became fill of fake files, then a switch of networks was called for, something like eMule which was great in it's day too, still handy for finding those hard to find files, just slow.

These days, P2P Ares
Preferred torrent client would be uTorrent

First place however would have to go to Rapidshare, which will allow you to download as fasts as your connection allows.

All the programs don't use the same networks. It's true that each program doesn't have its own specific network.

They are merely applications that connect to a certain network.

There are a few big networks such as Fastrack, Gnutella, bit torrent, eDonkey and a few other smaller networks.

607550 2007-11-02 06:59:00 Probably should have said before, I was more referring to Kazaa and the likes which afaik only use gnutella Agent_24 (57)
