607178 2007-11-01 00:50:00 I read somewhere that later in the Beatles' career they realised that people were not listening to everything they did on their records. For example, in the single "Girl" they sang "tit-tit-tit-tit" in the background and no-one noticed, or if they did, they said nothing. Those were the days when saying "tit" was not nice.

There was another song that they sang a nursery rhyme (I think that is what it was) in the background. What was the single? It may have been "Paperback Writer" or "Ticket To Ride."

Do you know which single it was and the name of the nursery rhyme?

Thanks.

Roscoe.

607179 2007-11-01 00:59:00 Careful here....paperback writer's lyrics are not politically correct....on several fronts.

There were a lot of exposé lyrics in their music. I'll take on one of the less-nasty ones here.

Brian Epstein, their manager was a...er....person of alternate sexual persuasion and also of a religious following that got caught up in a hate war that the Beatles had going against him.

He had "lost" a bag of money (which may NOT have been actual money but another product that comes in a bag) while he attended a party and it made it into the song: "Baby, You're A Rich Man".

"How does it feel to be one of the 'beautiful people'?" makes reference to his sexual proclivity and there's a lot more to be heard in the retort chorus in the background.

"Baby you're a big, fat; Baby you're a big fat; Baby your a big fat...xxx.." best left to the imagination here.

All in all...there was a lot of undercurrent in their music..and why not? They were geniuses at their trade.

The answer to their undercurrent motives and lyrics is best summed up in their "Let It Be" album.

607183 2007-11-01 07:57:00 In My Life

There are places i'll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends i still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life i've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When i think of love as something new
Though i know i'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know i'll often stop and think about them
In my life i love you more

Though i know i'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know i'll often stop and think about them
In my life i love you more
In my life i love you more

607184 2007-11-01 19:49:00 In the background of the Beatles' song Paperback Writer you can hear George Harrison and John Lennon singing the French nursery rhyme Frère Jacques. fnphoto (2434)
607185 2007-11-01 21:46:00 With the Beatles, it's all trivia. With beetles, however - - - R2x1 (4628)

607187 2007-11-02 00:23:00 Thanks finphoto. I knew it was something like that. I just could not remember what the song was.

Nigel, you are right. "Fish and Finger Pie" is just that. Thanks for the link. that is interesting.

With at least 300 songs to their credit, I imagine that they can get away with just about anything.

Thanks to you all. Most helpful.

Roscoe.
