607107 2007-10-31 20:52:00 Seen an old computer with Celeron 1.0 GHZ, 512 MB of RAM, early this morning. When turning ON, it loads Vista! The owner upgraded from Win98 and it's running fine, of course, sloooow. I was helping her to put in a NIC for her new broadband Internet.

She actually wanted to buy XP but the computer shop pushed Vista to her and she accepted it. Amazingly, she installed the OS (Vista) herself.

Who says Windows Vista cannot run on older machines???? :D

No, no, no.... The 386SX was a hot model and really fast (Ran DOS 3.1)

Now, my Sinclair ZX81.. that's talkin' old. :badpc:

Hmm i paid $1200 for mine and still had to get the software (dos 6.something and windows 3.1), Commander keen flew on it, although Doom was like Greased Treacle

607115 2007-11-01 00:03:00 From what I've heard, Vista can run on lower spec machines - it's the eye candy that slows things down the most. Deane F (8204)
