773828 2009-05-14 21:59:00 nVidia put out some **** drivers not so long ago for a couple of releases that with hardware problems such as overheating etc pushed ATI ahead at the time.
Been using Nvidia based cards for 10 years always with latest drivers never had any overheating problems. Must of been your system.

773829 2009-05-14 22:11:00 I'm really surpised at the results of this poll (in a good way). Thought ATI might have had the edge in the general consumer market with the low pricing on their midrange cards, but maybe not! :p

Go Nvidia.

773830 2009-05-14 22:31:00 I've always had good experience with nVidia cards, from the Riva TNT on, I've had just about every generation of card they've made. Of the 4 ATI cards I've had, 3 (all pre-AMD takeover) had constant driver headaches & developed hardware faults, only the HD3450 (which isn't exactly old, and is post-AMD) has been solid so far. So, for me its about 20 to 1 in favour of nVidia. That said, as you can tell from the 3450 I'm not entirely against ATI cards, and if it's a much better deal I'll get one (esp since the driver issues seem to be well in the past). But if there's not much in it $$ wise, or I want the utmost performance, I'll go nVidia. inphinity (7274)
773831 2009-05-14 23:03:00 My first card was a 3DFX, then went on to many nVidia ones.
Only had one nVidia die but it had been running at full noise.
Just recently bought my first ATI from the 4800 series.
They seem to have the edge at the moment.

I did not experience the problems first hand, I read about them which caused me to skip the drivers and I never had the problem with them.
The overheating was due to a poor heat-sink on the new cards at initial release, again I didn't purchase that card.

773833 2009-05-15 00:03:00 ATI 3560 PCIE Raedeon is what I have in my PC. Wouldn't put a Nvidia in the PC again. convair (13650)

Because when I went into fullscreen mode within flight simulator it would crash. This also happen with other games also.

773836 2009-05-15 01:27:00 I think there is something wrong with your system. I run FSX in full screen with no problems and other games as well.

Once the ATI card was put in, I have had no more problems.
