2007-11-02 07:50:00 | Agreed . I gave up for four years a long time ago, and was surprised at how easy it was . Just gotta ignore the hype . And be determined . Then started again :groan: But it's going again soon . Congrats for admitting you're actually smoking - in this hypercritical "let's get the smokers" world . I suggest the poll will have little statistical relevance . Those who've given up will be proud to say so (As they should . It can be a huge task for some . Not everyone gets addicted equally) Most who still smoke won't want to admit it here . Why should they? There's enough criticism for that from family & friends without potentially adding more from this forum . .

Hey, if people wanna get righteous to me, let 'em try ;) But it's not a habit any sane person can rationalise...and it's no source of pride. Some people are more accepting to individual's quirks than others though. |

2007-11-02 07:59:00 | I not criticising . . . . . . . . . . . im just watching my father die a hideous death that i wouldnt wish on anyone . . . . . . . . and if other people wish to smoke thats fine, . . . . . . . . . but i do say that its a horrendous way to die, cos you cant breath, you cant walk without being breathless . . . and about 3% of my dads lungs are air tolerable, they rest is gunked up and non movable, they dont even go in and out any more, his diafram does the breathing for him and on oxygen about 23 - 24 hrs a day even when he has a care giver to give him a shower he has to be sitting down and on oxygen . . . . . . . . . . . every one makes a choice . . . . . . . . . its there right, i have made mine, i dont punish others if theirs isnt the same . :illogical beetle

2007-11-02 08:00:00 | Smoke tobacco occasionally when I'm on the booze, and also smoke it mixed sometimes if whatever else I happen to be smoking doesn't burn properly. Or whatever. | roddy_boy (4115) | |

2007-11-02 08:10:00 | Of course I smoke tobacco! It has untold health benefits, eg imparts great anti-bacterial properties for the lungs, creates a nice healthy anti-carconargenic barrier against various cancers, and promotes well-being and happiness. Naturally there's a limit... i.e. sure, too much of a good thing can't be good, but kept in moderation. Tobacco is one of science's most underestimated natural health remedies. And think about it - you can't eat it, it doesn't taste nice as a distilled beverage, and it doesn't have any other consummable benefit. So smoking it is the way to go.
