607526 2007-11-02 05:09:00 Ink prices are steep, especially if you look at what a commercial printer buys ink for. Black $18 a kilo CMY about $22 a kilo plod (107)
607527 2007-11-02 05:13:00 Well, that commercial ink may be cheap, but the Inkjet stuff has got the water already added. Look in your icily friendly yuppie shop to see what designer water costs. R2x1 (4628)

607529 2007-11-02 05:25:00 Harvey Norman and other places will do 6x4 prints for around 29c per photo.

I know that, usually the more that you get done the cheaper it is. I take many hundreds of photos a year, a hangover from my black & white and colour photography and printing days.

Having done semi professional work for some years, I am super critical and probably only print 20 or 30 a year that I really like. Mrs kenj adds a similar amount so our needs are fairly small. I am also highly critical of most of the bulk processing done by retailers.

The dye sublimation process that the Sony printer uses has an extremely long life compared to inkjet, so I have read somewhere?

Hence my comments.

607530 2007-11-02 05:30:00 So? Dont buy from big brand shops. Go to Cartridge World or an online shop. Ink has always been expensive (after dot matrix printers got finished I mean) beeswax34 (63)
607531 2007-11-02 06:06:00 Great guys !

In actual fact I do go to Cartridge world and black cartridge is $ 20.00 and colour $ 25.00 (I think) and there is more ink in them than the HP ones !

But my point is still valid.

I also have a Brother Laser HL 2040 which has lasted me nearly a whole year on its original cartridge !

I would recommend anyone who does a bit of printing to get one of each laser and inkjet

607532 2007-11-02 15:21:00 Does anyone have a driver for XP-Pro for an IBM Selectric® printer?
Or how about for an Okidata Daisey-wheeler?
