| 607835 | 2007-11-04 05:11:00 | Heh...after giving up.. Food still tastes the same. I still struggle to wake up at 6am, still knackered at 11pm, Still run out of breath doing the same activities. I would say I feel exactly the same, except I have been crook 5 times since giving up, bedridden, and before that I would get crook once every 10 years. Though, I do have more spending, which I blow on crap. Crap which will most probably give me cancer. |

And last time I gave up I got demon cold's for years, and generally health seemed to go downhill. So much for doing the "right thing" and being rewarded huh. Still, that aside, these things are foul and have to go. |

| 607838 | 2007-11-04 05:32:00 | I have since given up smoking but I still think people should be able to light up if they want too. Second hand smoke statistics are totally out of whack. As stated with evidence by Penn on Penn & Teller Bullsh*t Agreed that smokers shouldn’t light up with children in the car or confined places. But do we need a law? Here’s a good quote by Penn Jellitte. “If you think there should be a law for something, there probably shouldn’t be.” I totally agree with that statement, I think we create too many laws, restricting our lives by telling us how we can live. |

As for the pains etc... you're not getting any younger :p .....hence my asthma post. And last time I gave up I got demon cold's for years, and generally health seemed to go downhill. So much for doing the "right thing" and being rewarded huh. Still, that aside, these things are foul and have to go.Since giving up, I've had slightly more colds (but I think my kid has a lot to do with that), one minor chest infection in 3 years (used to get 1 moderate chest infection per year) and can't remember the last time I needed my Ventolin inhaler (usually I went through 2 Ventolin inhalers a year, plus Flixotide preventative). I haven't needed a prescript for Ventolin since giving up. Still use Flixotide, but I think thats more for habit than actually needed |

| 607840 | 2007-11-04 10:44:00 | Theres no point giving up smoking unless you want to. If you dont want to quit or you quiting just because its uncool or whatever then you probably wont. As for people being disgusted about breathing in smoke or whatever, then complain about cars, buses, motorbikes, factories etc or you can bites those doughnuts like a good puppy. |

As for people being disgusted about breathing in smoke or whatever, then complain about cars, buses, motorbikes, factories etc or you can bites those doughnuts like a good puppy. Give hypnotherapy a go... for around $100 it's a hell of a laugh and seems to work whether you want to give up or not. I totally agree with Rob... cars and especially buses are more likely to kill you, and they have more ways of doing it. The filth that buses spew out (not to mention the noise pollution) is a shocker, but you don't hear any dogooders whining that they should be taken off the road for the safety of other inhabitants of the planet. Probably because most dogooders use buses to save the planet  That's what I was trying to say to James (sorry James!). It's just slightly hypocritical to spout on about the risks of being affected by passive smoking when you live in a place that has far worse pollutants. How about all you dogooders getting on your bike in a different way- channel that energy for good instead of picking easy targets. :D |
