774401 2009-05-16 09:38:00 I need a good Pwr supply for my new PC.

Ideally more then 500W but nothing over 700W coz i dont think i will need that much. Will just run 2 HDD and a Optical drv and No SLI setup for video cards and a Phenom II.

I prefer a modular one and one with cable management.
MOst reviews i read are mostly focusing on pwr supply pwr performance but dont touch much on cable management and connectors etc

Thanks

774402 2009-05-16 09:44:00 Corsair modular would be what you are looking for then gary67 (56)
774403 2009-05-16 10:08:00 I have a Corsair 520HX

It's really good - great for cable management. Am running a Q6600 with mild OC, 2 HDD, 4Gb Ram and a 9600 GT. I checked with Corsair recently - and they say with my system specs, the 520HX I have will have no problems running a GT 260+ when I replace the gfx card (soon).

Can recommend the 520HX - and after installing and working with a modular PSU, I'd never go back to standard again. HTH.

Good value for money, very reliable and stable.

774408 2009-05-17 00:03:00 i just have question on psu placement in the cases where it is bottom mounted .

With the power supply fan ending up being flush to the base of the case, how does this affect the airflow/heating . . . i mean there will be no air to ventilate since the side of pwr supply having the fan will b flush to the base of case bottom (i dont think you can have it facing up)

Are there special types of pwr supply that go with bottom placement cases? or am i missing somethin here as far as correct installation goes . . . sorry i never had a bottom mounted pwr supply in a case . . . so i m just relying on imagination - excuse my ignorance or dumb question

774409 2009-05-17 00:22:00 Not to mention the led light in the fan will be hidden :( And if it can turned arnd so the fan is facing up then i am guessing the cable coming out of pwr supply will end up facing outside of case (not closer to motherboard) and cable lengths wld be a problem learning (5137)
