Microsoft have created silverlight to try and tackle adobe flash player, but as speedy quite rightly says, if you want to use flash, it's adobe or nothing. |

Wasn't there some sort of Linux clone of Flash a few years back, before Adobe began officially supporting the platform? |

There's gnash. But it's not really that good. Unless you're against using proprietary software and want a free software alternative, Adobe flash is a better idea. There's also swfdec, but again it's not as good as Adobe. |
