773809 2009-05-14 10:37:00 Hi all,

My work has a problem with people (students) bringing their own computers and connecting them to the printers, thus obtaining free printing.

It needs to be very foolproof (ie not just a setting on the printer) so I'm thinking along the lines of a physical obstruction (I have considered glue or cutting the cable leading to the USB port).

Any other ideas? It doesn't need to be reversible :p

Yes it is. That's how we intend everyone to use it.

773814 2009-05-14 11:06:00 cut the cable inside the printer leading to the port, then they wont be able to print anything :D GameJunkie (72)
773815 2009-05-14 11:15:00 Rewire the plug, attach a few 9volt batteries, and place a small sign explaining damage may occur if you connect to this port. Rob99 (151)
773816 2009-05-14 21:58:00 I'd open it up and disconnect the port internally. inphinity (7274)
