| 775029 | 2009-05-18 21:52:00 | Hi guys Yesterday I installed a Windows Update (Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and .NET Version 2.0 through 3.5 (KB951847) x 86. From memory it was about 60 MB and took a long time to install. I have two hard drives (C where I install programs and D where I install data). Anyway after the installation I see that the Windows update has created a folder on my D drive - folder named 0848e5f13187841086 and sub-folders amd64 and i386. My questions are: 1 Can I safely delete these folders from the D drive? 2 Or should I move them to C:\Windows? 3 Or should I leave well alone? Your comments will be greatly received. If you have XP Pro, you have to open my computer, go to tools / folder options / view, and untick simple file sharing first Then right mouse on them / select security (you may have to click on add, then type in your username then click on check names), if its right, it'll complete it. Then (highlight your username first), tick all entries under allow, then OK. Then delete them. Otherwise it may say access denied (which is what it said here, when I went to delete them). If youre using XP home, you'll have to boot into safe mode then delete them (since it doesnt have a security tab, like XP Pro) |

| 775033 | 2009-05-18 22:24:00 | No theyre not needed its a bug in the netframework 3.5 SP1 install. It only happens in x86, not x64 (the folders werent on here, after I installed 3.5 SP1, on x64). MS have a writeup about these folders/files, and say they can be removed. I just cant find the link (I saw it last week). No probs Oxie :) | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||
