2009-05-18 04:45:00 | Hey I was told today that seeing as the family pc is so old that it might be the cpu overheating that is causing me to get the IRQL_NOT_EQUAL_OR_LESS BSOD. Would this be able to happen? | nedkelly (9059) | |
2009-05-18 05:33:00 | IRQL_NOT_EQUAL_OR_LESS is generally related to faulty/ Damaged drivers or Hardware or a combination of both. Thermal paste applied wrong, Not enough or to much usually causes startup / Over Heating problems. Whats the other error Code, something like 0x00XXXXX

2009-05-18 05:46:00 | how would I find out if it is hardware? | nedkelly (9059) | |
2009-05-18 06:02:00 | By answering Wainui's question... | wratterus (105) | |
2009-05-18 06:06:00 | Most probably a driver issue? Whats the stop code? If you have a live CD/or BARTPE cd you can test easily whether its hardware or drivers Blam

2009-05-18 06:08:00 | Yeah but the only way to see the error code is to shutdown the pc and let the BSOD come up then fix boot with the xp disk. I got Ultimate Boot CD if that counts

2009-05-18 06:19:00 | To see the error message - you have not said what OS. To lazy to type this out :sleep On XP: Right click on your My Computer icon and select Properties. Choose the Advanced tab and under the Startup and Recovery section, click on the Settings button. Now, uncheck the box that says "Automatically restart On Vista, Same thing but after properties select "Adavnced System Settings" ( on the left) then when it BSOD next it will sit there and you can read what it says.
