| 610821 | 2007-11-14 19:34:00 | My partner ... is absolutely nauseous all day and unable to work because of it. It will take 2-3 months to come right. Or maybe 9. Perhaps she should do the urine test. :) |

| 610822 | 2007-11-14 21:29:00 | T even if she did live with me and paid rent at the same place as me Id be having to pay her cut and complaining still . Its silly . Two people living in one residence pay ONE power bill, ONE phone bill, ONE internet bill, ONE rent or mortgage . Food may increase but its still cheaper than paying for 2 of everything . As for WINZ well now you know what its really like . I have a friend who works for them . While she is a bit brainwashed by her years of trying to feed people the BS, she agrees that a lot of situations aren't right with regard to the rules . But thats the nature of a bureacracy . Anyone who thinks its possible to have some kind of fun manageable lifestyle on a benefit (unless illegally supplementing their income) is deluded . |

In an accident: - A salaried employee gets 80% of their income but a self employed person gets 80% of their TAXABLE income. If you income split for legitimate tax reasons - say husband working, wife doing accounts - you will only get 80% of husband's share. Even though both are missing out on income. Or if you've just invested in major plant (like a new vehicle that you've saved for over a period of years but spent in one hit) then income is down for that year. When my daughter was in rehab after a major car accident four years ago one of the other patients had lost an arm in a motor bike accident thanks to a careless car driver. (He came very close to losing a leg also but the doctors put extra effort into saving it due to the arm). Self employed, just had some major expenses, now unable to do the job, was in process of losing everything. This is why income protection insurance exists. The taxpayer can't pay for everything. Moral of story: Everyone needs a contingency fund for the unexpected. |

| 610824 | 2007-11-14 22:25:00 | There are a lot of numbnuts out there that want ACC to pay for illness. They continualy moan that accident victims get more support from ACC than sick people get. Well the first letter in ACC is A for accident you pay levies you get accident cover. My definition of an accident is quick physical damage to to your body. Stuff like lung damage over time isnt an accident its a medical condition. If you want health cover you get health insurance if you dont want to get health insurance you will have to rely on the state for taxpayer funded medical problems. Leave !@#$%^ ACC for accidents ACC levies cost me an arm and a leg I am in the second highest cat under forestry workers. I dont want to pay out my ACC levys for sick people a lot who are overweight, dont excercise, eat **** food, smoke cigarettes, drink too much. C1 |

Moral of story: Everyone needs a contingency fund for the unexpected. my mate fell off his dirtbike and broke a collar bone last summer. got 80% of his income over the last two weeks, which included two genuine sick days and a 3 day weekend - so he was on about 50% of what he would have earnt for 6 weeks. he wanted to keep working but boss didn't want to risk further injury so he was stuffed. played xbox for 6 weeks which as you can guess got pretty boring after the first 7 days:groan: :2cents: There are a lot of numbnuts out there that want ACC to pay for illness. | 610826 | 2007-11-15 01:08:00 | Yeah, ACC pays out on your income. But with selfemployment - especially if you work from home, you deduct your expenses from your takings and thats the income thats taxed. Too bad the expenses might include household bills or a portion of - your ACC payments don't take that into account. |

| 610827 | 2007-11-15 01:50:00 | My sister was on ACC when she threw out her back a few years ago, she was off work for like year (im pretty sure most of that was laziness). ACC never pay you out on time or anything, I think she got pissed off with being behind with payments so long she went back to work lol. As for my partner being pregnant, when you spend a week in hospital for her symptoms, they do generally test for that. She had like 10 blood tests done, and the same number of tests on other general bodily excretions. They said she has a high white blood cell count, meaning infection could be somewhere colonoscopy is the next step poor girl! She starts back at work part time next week. |
