610664 2007-11-13 01:32:00 but i can just imort from an avi file?

Should be able to. I haven't used Adobe Premier myself so it would just be a matter of checking what fomats it works with.

When I originally got Adobe Premier Elements it only captured video via Firewire although the later version came with USB 2.0 support.
Here is a list of the formats Premier supports www.adobe.com
And here are the system requirements for Windows www.adobe.com

610665 2007-11-13 02:05:00 Just come back and having a look at this. I now realise it is a helmet cam capturing on a SD card. Can you just put the card into a reader and transfer it to your hard drive? Or transfer the file via USB cable from the cam to your hard drive.

All you want is to get the file to your HDD.

If it an AVI file like you say, most editing progs will then just open it and subdivide into scenes for you.

Am I on the right track?

Sorry that was my fault. :(
Let us know how you get on motorbyclist.

This might be a useful link for you www.adobeforums.com

You might want to check that it WILL actually capture the footage off an SD card too. I could be wrong but according to this blurb
"Editing a Video: Capture and Clips
After you shoot raw footage with your camera, you need to load that footage into your computer. To do this, connect your camera to your computer with a FireWire cable. Select the Capture... option in the File menu of Adobe Premiere. "

Might pay to check with the guys that use Premier just to be sure.

610671 2007-11-13 02:48:00 Video capture off an SD card in Premier. What were you talking about? winmacguy (3367)
610672 2007-11-13 03:57:00 No need to capture winmacguy. He drags it from SD Card to Hard Drive, then imports the AVI into his Editing Suite. The editing suite will read it PROVIDING it has been created with a compatible codec or format.

Low tech video capture:-)
