609321 2007-11-08 08:40:00 So Winston001 you use Xtra as I do. Have you signed up for the Xtra Bubble Yahoo at this time?

Do you sign up for anything and everything and with this an Xtra email address?

I will not go into what sites you visit at this time or why. Do other people have access to your computer especially during school holidays?

What are you using for an email client? Have you set junk/spam filters on your email?
......

I can assure you Sweep that I have more email addresses than I can shake a stick at. The work one is 9 years old and isn't used for subscriptions.

The Xtra interface we use certainly has a spam filter setting and it is turned on.

I've just asked my wife whose private email is Xtra/Yahoo Bubble (she's migrated fully) and she gets plenty of spam too. Some in Russian but at least she has some Russian language tutorial tapes to help out... ;)

Email client on all our PCs is Outlook Express.

If you are using the old Xtramail interface (eg non yahoo), then it posibily doesn't have any spam filtering, even though it looks like it is enabled. The old Xtramail used to use Brightmail filtering, but they may now not be using it, since they joined with Yahoo, and I doubt the Yahoo filtering would be compatible with the old Xtramail, as that is the reason they forced customers to use the new Yahoo mail in the first place.

609323 2007-11-08 23:58:00 I'd recommend you reserve a URL immediatly and use it for email, even if you never get a page published online.

It will save a lot of hassle, and the sooner you do it the easier the transition will be to your new address.

It doesn't really solve all the hassle, as you can still have difficulty senting domain based email via an ISPs smtp settings, if they have had their IPs blacklisted by Yahoos or hotmails spam filtering system. This is what has happened to Xnets IPs, and it has been a huge hassle.

So you are saying mail sent form an Xnet email doesn't get to an Xtra email recipient?

Because my xnet emails get through to people on Xtra.

609325 2007-11-09 00:11:00 As Xtra seem to be culprits here,I would have a word and put the onus on them.

They like to tell us how god their anti spam is.

he old system must still be filtering< as even though I"ve not changed to Yahoo I"m getting hardly any spam
So it will still be going into that webmail spam folder I used to be able to see was catching heaps

what bothers me is what else may be going into that?
sorry about punctuation
keyboard suddenly developed a mind of its own on capslock and gaps

AFAIK if you're not running a Domain hosted by Xtra the old system is history. You are kidding yourself that you haven't changed to Yahoo but you have had it done for you and there is another system doing the filtering. There is another webmail spam folder but you won't see that until you accept the YahooXtra T&C.

That"s an interesting thought Paul

But if so why am I not getting heaps of spam like Winston _ who has changed?

( My email & keyboard has gone berserk today _ nothing working as typed here without many efforts & things jumping & vanishing
Keyboard & mouse probably the reason but as Outlook Express also gone weird maybe Yahoo is trying to tell me something)

I suspect they may be having problems with their email systems on some accounts. If you try to set up a scond new email address in the Yahoo bubble system, you get to a point in the signup process that the page just keeps repeating itself, and you can't progress any further and you have to call xtra to fix the problem.

As mentioned previosly, it may only be a certain range if xnet IPs. Also Yahoos systems are very hit and miss anyway. Also if the person you are sending the email to, or other people have already whitelisted your email address, it may affect the yahoo filtering too. We don't know how their filtering really works.

Xnet have admitted to this problem to me, and that they are working with yahoo on it, so there must be a problem.
