609301 2007-11-08 02:05:00 I was replying to chicken one who apparently has agreed to the T&C.

Is the issue solely with Yahoo or is it a case of they are interpreting the Email specs very strictly and blocking people using their own SMTP servers that haven't got everything right? There don't seem to be any NZ ISPs not getting any messages through.

Xnets smtp servers are blacklisted with Yahoo, and I have also heard of the same issue happening with vodafone/ihug. This problem mainly applies for people with a domain name, and is sending email out via their isps smtp server. Eg. I have a domain hosted by iserve, and am sending out my email using Xnets SMTP server smtp.xnet.co.nz. That is the only way you can do it, unless you use iserves webmail system. ISPs also now block you using third part smtp servers, so you hgave to use their smtp server.
Xnet have admitted the problem, and that they are trying to get the issue resolved with Yahoo, but are having difficulty due to Yahoo being an offshore organisation.

609302 2007-11-08 02:09:00 I couldn’t get anywhere with Xtra so I packed my toys and headed off to Kinect .

Must say I’ve not had one Spam since and there hasn’t been any downside .

However, this isn’t that easy to do with a business where you’ve many clients and a lot of pre printed stationary .

Exactly . Changing our email address would be very difficult . Stationery, business cards, telling all of our fans who'd ignore it anyway . . . . . .

I should say that I didn't migrate to Yahoo Bubble completely - after all of the fuss, Yahoo introduced an option where you could keep the Xtra style webface . I don't know what difference it makes but should have nothing to do with the spam filters .

All I know is that we had next to no spam with Xtra and now have plenty . Go figure .

Thanks for your replies everyone .

It sounds like you are using Xtras Domain manil system, which uses their old interface . This may not infact have any spam filtering, as I don't think it uses Yahoo filtering . eg you are given 2 webmail options if you go to . co . nz/home/0,,15021,00 . html" target="_blank">xtra . co . nz

Blacklisted? That would mean no Xnet mail would get through .

Is a case that something is broken relaying your domain mail that needs Xnet to be Whitelisted to overcome?

Anyone running a business should have their own domain name .
This is then used as their business email address and stationery and business cards never have to be changed if changing ISPs .

609308 2007-11-08 03:32:00 I'm sure there are complaints elsewhere but didn't see a specific thread.

The amount of spam we are getting through Xtra is very annoying. Quite a lot of it is Russian which I can't read and who knows, there may be some amazing deals or dollybirds I'm missing out on......

The point is, before Xtra moved to Yahoo, we were getting no spam. Other people tell me the same. Now nearly half our email is spam.

I report spam faithfully every day on webmail but it makes no difference. Anyone know what the problem is - is everyone getting the same?

So Winston001 you use Xtra as I do. Have you signed up for the Xtra Bubble Yahoo at this time?

Do you sign up for anything and everything and with this an Xtra email address?

I will not go into what sites you visit at this time or why. Do other people have access to your computer especially during school holidays?

What are you using for an email client? Have you set junk/spam filters on your email?
Now to report my experience with the Internet in NZ:-

I signed up with Wave in Hamilton when I had a 28 K dial up modem.
Went to Xtra later with a 56K dial up modem. Moved elsewhere and still live here.

Sat on dial up as broadband was not available. Eventually broadband was available with Xtra and used that service. Later I went went to Orcon as they said I have uncapped data for $49.50. Orcon then changed my plan so I went back to Xtra.

When I went to Webmail I found quite a few emails which were NOT spam in the spam folder after checking. Some emails were marked as spam which were not.

I am still with Xtra as I have no need to phone the help desk. The only time I have to is that I get a customer to do it as they forgot their password.

Why not join the law makers? Parliament!

WINZ has no problem changing Stationery, cards, logos . Same with local bodies such as Auckland for example .

There is very little difference with councils in a rural area either for that matter .

Yes you’ve actually go two issues Winston . One is the infuriating Spam and the other is E-Mail being incorrectly identified as Spam and therefore not delivered .

A totally untenable situation for any business let alone a Law Firm .

Maybe, a multi-million dollar lawsuit might get their attention? :D

But then, surely there is something in Common Law to round up these sods?
