| 610159 | 2007-11-10 09:19:00 | I don't know about wanting to give up... but needing to give up is good incentive. As I said in the other thread- I went to a hypnotherapist. Considering I am the eternal sceptic it worked incredibly well. I walked out to my car after, looked at the ciggies packet and went "Nah..." and that was it. best $120 I've ever spent (well almost!) and it saved me a couple of Gs in the last year  |

He convinced a number of others to go, worked on them as well. Though I reckon if ya get through 5 weeks then your pretty much cracked it. Hell, I still get cravings, Had a massive one earlier for a split second when I was in the shop and caught sight of the big Winfield Red stand. |

Yeap, as long as something that can keep your jaws busy. :) Hypnosis cannot be applied to every person as it is limited to... well, only those who can be hypnotized. Cheers :) |

| 610164 | 2007-11-10 17:50:00 | I tried chewing gum but was becoming addicted to that. Like you after a meal where I used to enjoy a cigarette I get the urge, but I now know I can resist and do so. Never quite understood stop and starters,I have stopped once, hopefully thats it. Then there is the ones that only smoke with a beer and my wife who used to have one with me in the morning and one at night(cigarette:rolleyes: ) Anyway keep it up banjo. |

| 610167 | 2007-11-10 19:00:00 | I suppose what got me through was the combination of many things. I noticed my breathing got easier. My sense of smell/taste improved markedly. The smokers cough eventually disappeared. I required my inhalers less and less. And there were no more smelly ashtrays in the house (the worst smell for me, even as a smoker; was the smell of an ashtray as you washed it) I did it for myself because I wanted to, I wanted to make myself feel better and healthier I did it also for my child so I would be able to lift her and do all sorts of things with her that required physical activity (like chasing her down the street when she doesn't listen and come back :xmouth:) without getting breathless Remember those things relevant to you, and you should suceed. One of the hardest things to conquer when giving up, is the want to have something in your mouth. A lot of non smokers substitute cigs with food. BAD!! :p IN the end, it's all in the mind |
