| 609291 | 2007-11-08 00:47:00 | I note that nobody has actually answered Winston's question yet... And neither can I, I'm sorry, as I've held off on signing up for Yahoo/Bubble. I don't need to see my webmail until leaving town - which I've not done since its introduction. (Admittedly, I've been curious whether emails I wanted had gone to its spam folder, but have taken that chance) So all I can do is report that my "old unchanged" Outlook Express on Xtra is coping quite well with spam - down from about 5 a day at the time of the change to 1 or 2 now. But I'm also interested in Winston's answer, as every so often I wonder if I should take the Yahoo jump. Is it worth it or will give me grief? (Don't just say leave Xtra. I probably will later when I need my webmail, but it's not convenient just now) they all have web mail. |

This will allow the emails to be delivered into the inbox without being filtered by the Spam filter." You can import your contact list from Outlook or Outlook Express into webmail. I don't get many spam messages getting through but often the one's that do have the same subject and content as spam that is quite old and has been blocked in the past. PaulD, that is only a solution for those who actually use Yahoos webmail system, and have agreed to Yahoos T&Cs. However many Mum and Pop users only download their email via Outlook, and wouldn't have a clue about webmail. They also shouldn't be expected to do this. The issue is solely with Yahoos spam filtering system, wrongly classifying emails, and blacklisting several NZ ISPs'. Being and offshore company, Yahoo isn't bound by the same laws as NZ, and they are difficult to communicate with. |

| 609293 | 2007-11-08 00:55:00 | they all have web mail. WHen I setup an XTra Yahoo webmail account a few days ago to test it, it wouldn't complete the signup process. Therefore when I tried to login, it kept going back tot he signup form that I had already completed, so there is still a bug with their systems. I had to phone them to get it finally setup. |

I probably will later when I need my webmail, but it's not convenient just now) You know you can for $2.50 keep the XTra email address for the time being and have it forwarded to your new ISP email address. Then cancel it once the inconvenience is gone. |

Being and offshore company, Yahoo isn't bound by the same laws as NZ, and they are difficult to communicate with. I was replying to chicken one who apparently has agreed to the T&C. Is the issue solely with Yahoo or is it a case of they are interpreting the Email specs very strictly and blocking people using their own SMTP servers that haven't got everything right? There don't seem to be any NZ ISPs not getting any messages through. |

| 609300 | 2007-11-08 01:48:00 | No problems since I moved from Xtra to Orcon. I am considering moving to orcon from xnet, as xnet haven't yet been able to get themselves off yahoos spam blacklist. The only thing I don't like is that they make you sign up to a 12 month contract, or you have to pay a $150 penalty. I think this is anticompetitive, as consumers should be free to switch ISPs without penalty. I know this is probably due to the telecom churn fee, but I still think it is anticompetitive. |
