| 608739 | 2007-11-06 03:01:00 | Did u post anything on stirnet Nigel?? With some of the names in that pic u posted? No i haven't as most of the names are already on there, under the Douglas family tree, the Thomsons connect up to them through the Middlemores, which incidently acording to what i have been told, when a brother of one my forebears came to NZ he named his farm Middlemore estate and then either sold or donated land for the hospital (middlemore) to be built on, i would love to find out the veracity of this Lucky you, Nigel, to have such great old pix. None of mine go back nearly as far... I'm intrigued about your layout. Does it come with a particular genealogy programme or is that part of a website you've set up yourself? I have some limited experience with Legacy & Genes Reunited, but merely played around the edges of their options as yet. Just hand coded HTML, i decided to throw up something very simple for my great Aunt to look at, she 84 and i needed something simple as she tends to get lost on websites as the non linear nature of them throws her a bit OK..Nigel..I'll tell My sister had a book by John Lennon..."In His Own Write" and it had the following chapters: Partly Dave, No Flies on Frank, Good Dog Nigel, At the Denis, The Fat Growth on Eric Hearble, The Wrestling Dog, Randolf's Party, TShe got it autographed in Shea Stadium when she met John Lennon and he wrote his name on that page.... the one about the dog Nigel...that's all. That makes so much more sense, well a little bit, i used to get hassled about the name Nigel all through primary and intermediate school as there was an ad on TV featuring a couple of mice a Cheezel(kind of chip type thing) and a mousetrap, the punchline of which was "Worth a crack nigel...nigel?", need less to say if i ever got anything wrong in class everyone from the teachers to the students would repeat it to me |

| 608743 | 2007-11-06 21:27:00 | http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/ Bantu thanks again for the above link, i had been there before and found some wills that i believe are my ancestors, although at 5 quid a pop, i haven't viewed them yet, i am hoping one of my rellies may be heading to scotland soon, but i managed to delete my links to it while doing some house keeping on my machine, so cheers for that What about the Church of Latter Day saints ie the Mormons in Salt Lake City, Utah. They have the best records for genealogy bar none. Yes but they are not always accurate, and they have often been put in randomly, i found a lot of errors or should i say inaccuracies in the data that was on there, although it is a wealth of knowledge, there seem to loads of orphaned entries |

| 608744 | 2007-11-07 22:24:00 | The squaw of the hippopotamus is equal to the sons of the squaws of the other two hides . Ummm . . . . . . . . . Joe . . To make that joke really work it has to read: The squaw on the hippopotamus is equal to the sons of the squaws on the other two hides . As you know it is a corruption of Pythagoras but that version of the joke is long and tortuous . This version is shorter and more to the point: There was an Indian Chief who had three squaws and kept them in three teepees . When he would come home late from hunting, since it was dark he would not know which teepee contained which squaw . He went hunting one day, and killed a hippopotamus, a bear, and a buffalo . He gave one hide to each of his three squaws and told them they were only to sleep on that hide . Then, when he came home late, he could feel inside the teepee and he would know which squaw was inside . Well after about a year, all three squaws had children . The squaw on the bear had a baby boy, the squaw on the buffalo hide had a baby girl . But the squaw on the hippopotamus had a girl and a boy . So the moral of the story is: The squaw on the hippopotamus is equal to the sum of the squaws on the other two hides . Cheers Billy 8-{) |
