| 774884 | 2009-05-18 08:05:00 | Today I was just doing my work on my computer when it started freezing and it stopped responding I waited for a while and then it gave me the error message Delayed Write Failure with Several error messages that generally said the same thing. It stopped responding so I restarted my computer. When I restarted my computer It gave me the error Unmountable Boot Volume and when I managed to get back on my desktop had changed completely (missing icons, background change etc etc) and it was very sluggish/didn't respond at all. I request your wealth of knowledge to help me PC World Forums Thanks :) |

| 774889 | 2009-05-18 08:29:00 | The delayed write failure is usually due to when Write Caching is enabled in the disk. Have you recently performed a forced shutdown? Write Caching enables better system performance but increases risks of data corruption when cut off power/forcefully shutdowned. The file system is most probably corrupt, see if you can boot into Safe Mode with command prompt and perform a chkdsk /f If you cannot do that then if you have XP: Download this: www.thecomputerparamedic.com It is the recovery console only iso. Burn to CD, boot from it and perform a chkdsk /f Or Vista: Download the Vista recovery CD: neosmart.net Download 32bit or 64bit depending on your corresponding OS architecture. You will need a torrent client, utorrent is simple and easy to use: www.utorrent.com From there, burn the iso to a CD, use imgburn if you don't have an image burner: www.imgburn.com Just select Burn image to CD on the main menu window. Once the iso is burned to a CD, boot from it and select startup repair. It should automatically repair the filesystem-if that fails then select command prompt in the recovery disc's main screen and perform a chkdsk /f Reboot, and all should *hopefully* be fixed:) Blam |
