2009-05-18 05:40:00 | Hi guys, I have a user who cannot open attachments in Outlook 2007. they used to be able to do this before but for some reason this functionality has stopped. The user also cannot double click items within their calendar to open them. to open attachments they need to use the menu option or select open attachment from within the message itself. No other users are expriencing this problem. The machine specs are as follows; HP 6730b notebook 2.4GHz Core2Duo CPU 2GB DDR2 RAM Windows XP Pro SP2 Office 2007 SP1 MS Exchange Server 2007 Thanks in advance.

2009-05-18 05:54:00 | Uhhhmmm... nah won't be going SP2 just yet, it's only just been released. We have a policy at work where we don't roll out SP's until a few months have passed or unless it is absolutely neccessary to do so. Thanks

2009-05-18 06:10:00 | If the previous suggestions don't work (resetting security settings might) I'd bite the bullet and try to install SP2, it's safe as houses. I've installed it on 50+ PCs so far, and not an issue yet. Create a restore point before hand just to be sure. | wratterus (105) | |
2009-05-18 08:31:00 | Opening files from with outlook can cause issues when they have the same name or none at all, as outlook has a limit of 99 like temp file names....it keeps incrmenting the number each time the file is opened......to fix this you must right click the attachement, select save as, and that with luck should open the temp folder for you (something like OLKtmp or OLK***, so once the folder opening highlight everything and delete all the temporary files... | SolMiester (139) | |
2009-05-19 05:35:00 | Ok, so I installed Office 2007 SP1 again and a couple of other hotfixes that were available for Outlook 2007. None of which yielded a positive result. This was yesterday... Upon arrival at work user advised me that everything was working great... Damned if I know what actually fixed the issue. thanks for all the advice guys.
