| 609002 | 2007-11-07 01:16:00 | A Partial C/P here: <unfortunately, the link is no longer available . . . so I made this instead> From developer/blogger Dave Weiner[/URL], who publicly and happily converted from Windows to Mac two years ago, comes a review that in yachting magazine would spell Titanic: ( . com/blogs/gmsv/2007/10/we_were_hoping_for_something_more_enthusiastic_tha" target="_blank">svextra . com n_better_than_vista . html) "Talking with a friend a few days ago," Weiner writes, "he asked what I thought of Leopard . He had installed the new version, like me, the first day it came out . 'I'm not liking it,' I said . He said something that was simple, profound and revealing: 'It's like Windows . ' It is . It's that unpleasant to use . It disappears for long periods of time . Systems that didn't used to crash now crash regularly . On one system three hard disks were rendered unusable, and I lost a couple of full days restoring them (luckily I had good backups) . The user interface is quirky . The new networking interface is a big step backward . The firewall moved and lost features! . . . Dear Apple Inc . : I left Windows because it held my time and work in low regard . I was happy with the Mac because it seemed reliable . Now it seems my friend was right, I'm using Windows again, and I'm not happy about it . " Ouch . To be true, Weiner can be cantankerous, but he's hardly alone . You have to wonder how many people are thinking like Thomas Hawk ( . com/2007/11/boy-im-happy-i-havent-upgraded-to . html" target="_blank">thomashawk . com): "The thing about a Mac, the value of a Mac is contained in a single phrase: 'It just works . ' But if it *doesn't* just work then the value of the Mac goes out the window . . . . and it sounds like for a lot of people Leopard just *isn't* working . I'm glad I waited for the upgrade . " From here: Leopard & Vista; More Alike That You Might Like . ( . zdnet . com/hardware/?p=907" target="_blank">blogs . zdnet . com) OK . . flaming stuff at the least . . . but I just found this article and thought it might be interesting . . after all . . . NObody here is a Mac fan . . . er . . . no? :groan: |

| 609005 | 2007-11-07 03:21:00 | Yes, thank God. But seeing as he isn't here... :p I'm actualy really happy. I can now say that the new Apple OS has bugs just like Vista. But could a mod pleeease lock this thread, and then we can condemn it to the depths before WMG gets back? |
