| 608763 | 2007-11-05 23:16:00 | Anyone any suggestions on an economical way to transmit a video signal from a security camera to a DVR over about 500 meters line of sight outside? Thanks |

The lengths of coax between the tx/rx and their respective antennas will also have to be as short as possible. Lining up the boresight of the antennas over 500m will present some difficulties as well, but you should be able to do it ok with good gear and patience. I saw a good description of one such installation on the web some time back so some assiduous searching might be in order and save you a lot of time. Cheers Billy 8-{) |

| 608766 | 2007-11-06 01:07:00 | Is a cable based solution out of the question? A friend of mine did a 400m run using CAT5 and those special "baluns" to convert coax to UTP. The quality wasn't great, but it did the job. | somebody (208) | ||
| 608767 | 2007-11-06 01:31:00 | Thanks but no cables are not an option for this particular position we have used RG6 video cable and Cat 5 (for data) to our other (PTZ) cameras but now would like to see if can set up a number of wireless cameras (do not require data for control they are fixed cameras). | stuffed (1469) | ||
