775593 2009-05-21 06:49:00 a laptop I am sorting out needs a CD writing program.
Normally I have used Nero or Roxio but several times I have read in these threads mentions of free programs the users have found excellent.
I would like to try one of these - recommendations please.

775594 2009-05-21 06:53:00 cdburnerxp is small (3.06 mb) ,and will do most cd's. It'll also do cd labels (And lightscribe, if you install the lightscribe program). WHAT exactly do you want to do?? Just add files (data cd/dvd), or make a DVD, or other? I got rid of Nero, it was too bloated. However I dont think it'll do DVD, it says on the site you'll have to use DVDflick or other first then burn it with cdburnerxp. I also use poweriso (but its not free). So I can add/edit files to the ISO's as well). Speedy Gonzales (78)
775595 2009-05-21 06:55:00 Another one is burnaware free although that doesn't do labels but is a great free program I use it on several machines here gary67 (56)

775597 2009-05-21 08:30:00 Thomas... What OS are you using. I use Vista on one machine and it burns data and music to CD's and DVD's perfectly. I still use Nero on the XP machine. Scouse (83)
775598 2009-05-21 08:40:00 There is also Burnn and Easy Burning, with reviews here (www.snapfiles.com) and basic reviews at MP3 Free Software Downloads (mp3freesoftware.blogspot.com) kahawai chaser (3545)
