2009-05-20 03:09:00 | I was up until last week with xnet (till i changed address), my local exchange was the waiuku exchange only 300m away . I received an email on the 8th may advising that my xnet fusion plan had gone from $69 . 95 to $89 . 95 as of the 1st May 09 . On receiving the email I rang, commerce commission, vodafone, orcon . Both vodafone and orcon advised after extensive checking that I would not be classified as rural if I was with them for my naked broadband plan . I rang the commerce commission who are currently looking into two things: 1) no prior notice of a cost increase was given (as only notified 8 days later, this to me isnt acceptable) . 2) whether the waiuku exchange is rural or urban, xnet even advised me that pukekohe was rural . Now another issue has arisen with xnet, mid way thru april I advised xnet that I wished for my account to be disconnected as of 12th May . Then last week I receive final account in the post charging me for the full month of may and also at the $89 . 95 rate, im therefore only going to pay xnet for 12 days at the $69 . 95 rate plus any calls and data, if they want the rest then they can do what they like cause I dont pay for non service or price increases with out prior notice . No where in xnets terms and conditions does it state that you will be charged the full month shall you wish to disconnect part way thru a month . I definitley wont be using xnet again in the future as in the 8 months I was with them at this address I had issue after issue after issue, im a pc tech but hardly a week went past where I wasnt having to call them for some problem i was experiencing . The VOIP line worked like utter crap, a lot of people told me that they couldnt hear me clearly including xnet staff themselves and quite often I had to ring someone twice before they could even hear me at all . As part of my business I use to often get asked by clients who to use for broadband and I usually said to try xnet, rest assured due to the issues ive experienced with them I will never recommend xnet again . My other address which also ran a normal xnet broadband connection for 4yrs I have now changed to another provider also . Xnet you simply know how to lose customers .

2009-05-20 05:53:00 | . 2) whether the waiuku exchange is rural or urban, xnet even advised me that pukekohe was rural . . Waiuku is rural . There was a thread earlier - someone asking the same thing, I've forgotten the link . It makes not difference if its a small town, I live in a small town - we are classes as rural too . As for Terms: . wxc . co . nz/about/docs . shtml" target="_blank">www . wxc . co . nz Take a look at the VFX pdf . And the General Terms . Pretty clear to me .

And they say neither telecom or your new ISP can close your account with xnet. I know because they are trying to make me pay for three months worth Last I heard from them was mumblings about debt collecters and gettin a bad credit rating. |

2009-05-20 21:30:00 | I had Xnet at the shop. When I closed it I rang them and said cancel it from xxx date. They did, got final bill for the correct number of days and that was it. Painless. Possibly this is different if you are still within the 1 year contract period.

2009-05-20 23:47:00 | It's a shame you have had so much trouble with Xnet. I use them at home and at work for ADSL and two VFX lines at work. Never had a major problem and if I have had to call them they have fixed the problem quickly. Not like one of my customer's, who use another ISP not Xnet, who have been without the internet for over a week now. For some reason Telecom disconnected their ADSL at the exchange and it has been a pain in the arse trying to get it reconnected again with the ISP blaming Telecom, Telecom blaming Vodafone (who they use for their land line) and Vodafone saying they have done nothing and for them to talk to their ISP. :waughh: Telecom have now said that it has been fixed at the exchange but they still have no internet as of this morning. I have tried another router as well. I think it is going to be easier for them to change ISPs

2009-05-21 06:01:00 | Hi there Lee08, I too have been told by xnet that I am now a rural customer (Taupo) as when I got my April account for my Fusion Plan I was charged an extra $20. They have since sent me an email saying that the new rate should have started FROM May1st not April 1st. So they are going to credit me the $20. I have complained to both xnet and the Commerce Commission, But apparently Telecom and com com decided the list of areas that are deemed rural or urban and there isn't a dicky bird we can do about it! I am considering changing ISPs now as that extra $20 is not within my budget and other ISPs are looking better, especially if they tell you that you are urban and not rural. LL :(
