Hi and hoping someone can help, please. I have been using Gmail, since it first came out and you had to be invited. I see they now have video, so over the weekend I tried to set it so, to talk to grandbabies in Aussie. I open up Gmail and click on the link to download and install. It does all that and says, " Thanks for trying Gmail voice and video chat!". It then wants to close and restart my Mozilla Firefox 3.0.10. Firefox restarts, I log into Gmail and it takes me to the Settings page. Under the Voice Video Chat it says, Detecting devices. Well, off and on, it's been doing that for days. My camera and microphone work okay, with other programs, but not Gmail. The screen doesn't have a Log off icon, so I have to close browser to get out, of it:badpc::badpc::badpc:. Anyone have any ideas? :droolThanks, Ian. |

I have friends here in the States where I live and they are on dial-up and they get the same treatment from GTalk.
On DSL - no problem and I get to use mine all the time. I even use the Google VOIP too, and no problems unless I try to GTalk to someone on a slow system. |

Thanks, SurferJoe46. I had a brainwave, after I posted. Yes, it does happen. I tried to access the program on IE and the sodden thing seems to work, but my daughter, in Sydney not home to try it. Don't like IE but I'll have to try it latter.. |

Try using the IE Tab add-on for Firefox and see if it works that way. |

Hi ya, beeswax34. Yep that worked. I opened up gmail and checked the settings, and it's there. So, I guessing, it's a gmail problem. |

It's probably for IE only. Thats why it works with the addon |
