775021 2009-05-18 22:04:00 Last night at 11.50pm my installation of Windows XP decided to playup. I restarted the PC and got an error saying that the kernal (C:windows/System/Config )file had been corrupted and needed to be covered. I tried to sort out the recovery to no avail and ended up reinstalling XP last night. convair (13650)

775024 2009-05-19 03:25:00 So the solution is as Blam6 says.

Make a batch file as described and put it on bootable media for next time you need it.

Will save you time if it happens again.

775025 2009-05-19 04:29:00 Or you could have just done a Repair Install - that way it wouldn't have touched your personal stuff. pctek (84)
