1438798 2017-09-05 23:24:00 I'm interested in buying a couple of Gigabit Ethernet PCI-E cards and I'm wondering if anyone here would have any they'd be interested in selling?

I want something decent, eg: Intel\Broadcom chipset from Dell\HP etc, not some Realtek-based thing from Wun Hung Lo.

But... I don't want to pay brand new prices and TradeMe seems to only have PCI-X or quad port cards for too much money. Am I dreaming?

Happy shopping, anyway!

1438805 2017-09-18 22:18:00 Thanks everyone, it looks like some decent cards turned up second-hand on Trade Me so I've gone with that option. First one I purchased doubled the throughput from 55MB/s to 108MB/s, I'm much happier now!

I hesitate to buy a generic card from Aliexpress/eBay, as even though the chipset might be the same as the official Intel branded cards, the rest of the components would very likely be of a lower quality. There's also a possibility the chipset itself may be from an engineering sample batch or other dubious source.

Last time I bought a gigabit card from eBay I got burned, the card worked on 100Mbit but hard locked the computer every time when set to 1000Mbit.
In another example, a cheap USB3.0 card I purchased worked fine, but the bracket was incorrectly designed, and the card and would have bent my motherboard by 4mm when screwed in. I solved the problem with some washers on the screw between the bracket and the case, but that's the kind of rubbish I'm talking about with the "Wun Hung Lo" stuff. It's just not worth it.
