| 1438323 | 2017-08-18 05:18:00 | Hi All I am in a new resthome now & onc again am in a room as far from the MODEM/ROUTER as is possible to get, There are TP-Link 500 extenders throughout the building which is poured concrete & reinforcing. There is one outside my room by about 10 m from RE to computer. The signal from that is non existant for most of the time. The one i had at the last place was a TP-300 & was adequate. What does the numbers 300 & 500 signify? Would a more powerful RE be better at the end nearest the begining, office, or my end of the arrangement. Thanks. PJ |

| 1438326 | 2017-08-18 22:11:00 | Sorry, it was sorted yesterday early evening but I wanted to wait & see. there is one extender in a power-point in the passage near me. There is another one almost directly below me in the ground floor. Apparently they were out of sync with each other. The downstairs unit signal was stronger than upstairs (me) & were competing with each other. The IT guy removed the one outside my room & synced me to the one downstairs. He said something about 'frequency' which I didn't catch. Perhaps the units were on different mains power phases. Me on RED Phase & downstairs on YELLOW or BLUE. Electrically 180o degrees apart. Therefore giving me confusing signals. That's my theory as an old sparkie. PJ | Poppa John (284) | ||

PJ More likely that they were both broadcasting on the same frequency (channel) and interference was the result. |
