1438709 2017-08-31 05:38:00 Under no circumstances try to find out Roscoe. My late father in law was a train driver and was involved with 4 people who tried to check it out. They proved that the train has right of way pretty darned conclusively. Unfortunately none of them survived to present a paper at a university to show how they arrived at their conclusions.:(

ROW is just a red herring. :)

1438711 2017-08-31 05:51:00 I agree with this. Its like the law of the sea....always give way to the biggest.

Unless of course you are the US Navy.

1438713 2017-08-31 06:54:00 Technically there's no road when a train approaches, so neither :D pcuser42 (130)
1438714 2017-08-31 08:48:00 It is common sense to give way to a bigger vehicle that cannot stop in a hurry. A train cannot even swerve to avoid a collision. A good many railway crossings have barrier arms and bells so that there is no dispute who has the right of way. Bobh (5192)
1438715 2017-08-31 10:55:00 So what happens if either train, plane, or cars demand the ROW at

Gisborne, where the railway line crosses the main runway at the airport?

or

Gibraltar, where the road crosses the [only] runway?

Just stirring ...

:devil

1438716 2017-08-31 11:17:00 Whether the train or plane has ROW at Gisborne depends on the air traffic controller :) pcuser42 (130)
