1438302 2017-08-18 02:37:00 Trying to solve a Bluetooth problem, the MS chat guy led me to a services dialogue box with tick-boxes down the left side, and told me to click disable all. I did that and rebooted but the BT driver problem was still there.

But now I can't find the screen to turn them on again (and I no longer have internet access on that computer)...

1438303 2017-08-18 02:59:00 Could be a simple driver problem, had that on a W10 the other day, the BT simply quit :( Real fun trying to listen to a TV program with no sound.

Try this, in the search type in msconfig Open the result, you'll get System Configuration -- When it opens in the services tab, down the bottom is enable /disable all.

Failing that, just found ( but never tried) the reg fix www.tenforums.com

1438304 2017-08-18 03:42:00 Yes that did it Wainui. Thanks

I had found the Services screen but via a joe-public route and it didn't have that option

So I now have internet access (and don't have to keep swapping this keyboard between computers) but I still don't have BT

The MS chat guy downloaded an app that fixed the driver problem - so it said - but when I rebooted it came back

He did other things and told me to Restore but I hadn't enabled that. I had 2 MS guys over an hour and I might have used up my free help

I'm thinking it might be better to reinstall??

1438305 2017-08-18 08:11:00 A reinstall is a bit extreme if its only th ebluetooth.

Somethings to try.

In Search type Troubleshoot -- open the Troubleshoot settings Option, there should be an option for Bluetooth.

You can also, in the device manager right click and uninstall the USB Device that's showing a fault. It may also pay to unplug any USB devices not required, only leaving KB/Mouse. My Bluetooth is only a USB plug in, had to remove that, uninstall the device and on reboot it sorted it. If yours is built in then it should auto install new drivers after a reboot.

You can also run the dism commands: ( press enter after command) Open a CMD as admin, type ( or copy paste)

dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth It will give a result, should hopefully say its repairable. If so:

dsim /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Plug back in the Bluetooth ( if its external) and see if it works.

"IF" its still playing up you can always try a repair install.

With Windows running normally, put in a DVD /USB drive with W10 on it, double click the setup, follow onscreen instructions -- this reinstalls Windows over the top keeping all data as long as the option is selected. ( pays to back up any data first if not done so already --- Just in case).

1438306 2017-08-18 10:07:00 I tried all your suggestions Wainui apart from Repair Install but nothing solved the problem. The DISM command said "repairable" and DISM restore worked but the problem came back on reboot

I'm wondering if the problem is corruption in the BIOS department? The error messages seem to point to a non-existent USB device - perhaps CMOS has a record of a USB device that got disconnected illegally. BIOS reports its theoretical existence to Windows which interrogates it and gets no response... just thinking. I've only had standard USB (strorage) devices connected and on the BT side just an MS keyboard and MS mouse. Those are all disconnected now apart from a wired keyboard (via PS2) and a USB mouse

I'm downloading Windows to a USB stick now (for a repair). But if the problem is BIOS corruption I might be wasting my time. Is there anything I can do in the BIOS area?

1438307 2017-08-18 10:48:00 Could try resetting to defaults, maybe reflashing the BIOS, BUT if its damaged you may make things worse if it bricks it.. Have look at all the USB ports, make sure none are damaged. wainuitech (129)
1438308 2017-08-19 04:47:00 Yes clearing CMOS and loading defaults worked and I have BT

Now to turn on Restore and make an image - and turn off the RGB again...

Thanks for your help
