| 614126 | 2007-11-22 23:43:00 | The purpose of her bill she claimed was to remove the forcible reason claim blah blah for parents who abused there children, yet now we have a Masterton Dad of 33 who with OPEN hand smacked his 8 yr and now finds himself a criminal. Nice work Sue Bradford.......I for one wish you a speed expiry from this earth! Oh, I might add, 2000+ years children have been disciplined with the hand as stipulated in the bible, however this B*tch thinks she knows better than the lord.....WTF! |

| 614127 | 2007-11-22 23:50:00 | He grabbed the kid's shoulder hard enough to bruise it. That is more than a simple smack, but I think he should get off with a warning unless he has a history of violence. | Greven (91) | ||
| 614128 | 2007-11-22 23:51:00 | Do you think the child tried to stop the dad grabbing by the shoulder? | SolMiester (139) | ||
| 614129 | 2007-11-22 23:54:00 | That'll teach him to come home from work in a bad mood. It wasn't the smacked bum that did it, it was mainly the bruised shoulder where he grabbed the kid. Stuff headline "Critics of smacking conviction 'should butt out'" www.stuff.co.nz |

Like you Sol, I wasn't there so don't have all the facts. But, from listening to media reports, and reading between the lines, it seems he did more than what would be considered a "typical disciplinary smack", as I have done plenty of times myself. The fact there was bruising, and the father is getting anger management counselling, and he pleaded guilty, and the whole family is in therapy, the result could very well be justified. My kids have felt the back of my hand more than once, but I've never left them bruised. Nor have found it necessary to restrain them to the point of causing bruising. I agree with your sentiments regarding Bradford Sol, but in this instance she may be onto a winner. |

| 614132 | 2007-11-23 00:53:00 | Apparently he did have a history of violence. But then it was the sister in law that reported him. And whats with this as in the bible stuff? Heaps of things are in the bible, keeping slaves, raping your maidservant etc etc. Shall we all do those too? |

| 614134 | 2007-11-23 02:53:00 | If my son misbehaved at school I don't care a fig for Bradford's bill. I would tan his hide. Mind you it could be a bit difficult now as he is in an exclusive school in England - is one of the teachers and approaching 50 So I do hope he behaves. Tom |

Oh well there's another election next year. Next time the kid misbehaves the INNOCENT father should take the kid to that female and ask her to demonstrate how to punish him. |
