| 613539 | 2007-11-21 03:21:00 | I think I have become allergic to OAK wood . . like the new bedroom set I just bought this past couple of months . It smells like burning cigarettes to me . . makes my eyes water and throat all scratchy . Anyone else find this a problem too? :help: I don't smell any preservatives or paints, stains or oils . . just that normally nice "wood smell" . Makes me sick now . :eek: |

Is the vineer over some sort of chipboard . :) No . . . it's all planks of oak . . . some of the unfinished and unseen parts under the bed are less than prime surface pattern . . . but no chip/particle board at all . I had to get a couple of guys to help deliver it for me . . . it has some really big parts, but there is some assembly required . We never found any softwoods or blemished wood in it anywhere . . . even where it doesn't show . I believe that the headboard has some vernier and maybe the drawer faces too . . but it's really hard to see if there's any facade verniers at all . The eight drawers are functional . . . the linens are in a couple of the wide side ones and my stuff in the end ones on the foot board . The top of the mattress is at my belly button . . . my wife uses the step stool to get in but I don't have any troubles . I had it since April and it seems that I'd notice if there's less odor by now . . but with the colder weather coming on and the windows closed more during the day, maybe I can smell the woods more now . |
