776033 2009-05-22 11:05:00 Hey guys n gals!

I have Photoshop 7 [ I know a little ancient =) ]
I have recently begun to experiment with
.ico, and have up to now been able to successfully create them.
Although, whenever I try now I get the error message
" Could Not Save As "C:\Users..... Because Of A Disk Error "

Note this only happens when I try and save .ico
I have tried multiple plugin's all to the same result...

Extra Details:

I have 320GB Free Space On Primary HDD
4GB Of Ram, 3GB Avaliable.
Vista
Intel E5200 3.29Ghz

Any help would be awesome

776034 2009-05-22 11:57:00 In Vista, you cannot modify files in system directories (i.e. C:\Users\).

There are two options:
- Save it in your My Documents folder, then manually copy it across
- Run Photoshop as Administrator, then it will let you save directly to system directories

I mean I dont particularly love vista, [I have licences for both =) So its no issue]

The easiest fix is to simply run Photoshop as Administrator (right click on the icon, choose "Run as Administrator"). There's absolutely no reason to reinstall your operating system.

Based on your system specs, there's no real reason to downgrade to XP, unless you really hate Vista. I personally prefer Vista due to its security features, and have used it since it first came out.

776039 2009-05-22 12:19:00 Have tried saving to an 250GB external drive, 3 USB drives, an SD card.... No Success =) Kmak (14774)
776040 2009-05-22 12:23:00 Try what it says here (photoshop911.typepad.com)

It looks like this prob happens in CS2 as well.

How to get rid of the "disk error"!

Go To Photoshop > Edit > Preferences > Perfomance. At the "Memory Usage" section, take the slider of "Let Photoshop use..." and slide to the right so photoshop uses 100%

At the Scratch Disk section, select all harddrive and activate the checkboxes! And click OK! Then restart Photoshop and the problem is fixed.

Youre not trying to save over a network or something are you?

776041 2009-05-22 12:28:00 Okay
Memory Set To 100%
Scratch Disk, All HDDs Added
The Only Tick Box On The Scratch Disk Page Is "Additional Plugins Directory" Was Ticked By Default
Restarted Photoshop No To Avail =(
Nope No Network Based, All Local Via Sata Interface.
