What have they got over there that we don't have, except... lots more guns, lots of desert, lots of wide open spaces in the interior of both the sub-continent and their heads, and lots of poisonous things. I'll stick to NZ thanks. |

| 614237 | 2007-11-26 07:24:00 | I have recently been head hunted by an Australian company to move to Oz, and they are offering me a fantastic offer in terms of wages, the amount of holiday, and other lifestyle benefits. I have been holding off moving to Oz for several years, but am now seriously considering it. I also think I could do with a change. I would be interested to find out how many other people of working age here in NZ are thinking of heading off to Oz. If i were you i would just do it. I was gonna move to Aussie but then got the opportunity to move to US. And i just went for it My opinion is the more settled u are in NZ, the harder for you to decide whether to go or not. And the younger u are the easier it is to settle down n adjust etc to new place For me it was simple - didnt have house to sell off and worry on so i just packed my stuff and flew off I left mainly for financial reasons. And it definitely is paying off. I c myself achieving financial goals at the very least 7 years earlier then when i would have achieved in NZ had i stayed there. I will return to NZ and that will probably be in retirement as most overseas kiwis do. The only thing i misss is the footy....Rugby is Alien in US. They think of it as some British sport played by Fat guys...he he |

I moved at age 65, and my only regret was that I didn't do it sooner, my excuse for not biting the bullet - good job in NZ, comfortable house in NZ,and I would have to find a new job in Australia, which is hard on the wrong side of 50, but it is anywhere. Alternately, you can remain in your kiwi comfort zone, and in years to come will be able to say" If only I had taken that job in Aussie..... |

I dont like their drinking piss in public areas laws which are draconian. I think the idea was to kerb aborininal drinking but it means you cant drink piss anywhere now with out getting locked up. But all Aussies I met are mega racist I dont think its their fault because up to the 70s they had a keep Australia white policy. They let in immigrants from Turkey and Greece the Aussies I knew used to hate them. Then the pollies let in asians and refugees which really upsets most Australians and makes them sound like racists to other people In private most Ausies say they dont like New Zealanders either. Money isnt everything, but if you want money then Australia is the place, esp if you can get a mines related job. I hate Sydney, Melbourne and Brissie but like Darwin and Perth. I dont like their compulsory voting either. Citizens shouldnt be compelled to do anything in my book. I like the respect they give to their armed forces which is lacking here. |
