Air fares across the Tasman are often less than flying from Tauranga to various parts of the South Island. My son and family are moving to Brisbane early next year (supposedly for a year). He is often over there doing work for his company and will be still working for that company while living there. Before anyone pounces, I know that is more than three words! Cheers, Marnie |

For any person who would like to leave New Zealand then feel free to do so for your own reasons. For those that have left then another question for you. Have you got rid of your NZ passport and taken up being a citizen in another country? |

There is a shortage of workers here in Brisbane. Even worse in places further north and west if you can stand the heat and the flies. For those that have left then another question for you. Have you got rid of your NZ passport and taken up being a citizen in another country? There are very few reasons to give up NZ citizenship when living in Australia, so no, I will not. |

Cost of houses, car registration, stuff like that . Its hot, and quite often on fire . Its full of aussies . In the Herald the other day was a story about a girl who was beaten up at school because she was a kiwi . They are very rascist, more so I think than here . Last place I'd ever go . |

Having moved cities when I was 14 I wasn't going to inflict that on my kids so we stayed in one place whilst they were growing up. We then had a few years where we could do what we liked and didn't realise the next step was fast approaching - parents who need us. Grandchildren will be next once son-in-law has his back operation (next month) and gets back into the work force. They want kids once life is stable again. My brother is currently looking at the UK - better job, huge (and I mean HUGE) money difference, better prefessional soccer opportunities for soccer mad 16 year old son BUT... ... 13 year old daughter needs uprooting (and he suffered from our move when he was 10 so doesn't want to do it to her), Mum needing us since Dad passed away last month, a father-in-law rapidly becoming terminal and a wife who wants to stay near family. If you get opportunities - take them whilst you can. If it doesn't work out you can come back and know you tried. |

(I think she was a Dame and they even showed clips of her with the Queen, but Ive no idea what her name was) Anyway, she was lamenting the fact that 100,000 of Australias highest qualified professionals were working overseas. The interviewer appeared shocked and enquired Well whos replaced them? Mainly Kiwis she responded. Well who replaced them the interviewer enquired? I dont think we should go there was the subtle response. I nearly choked on my XXXX, but she seamed to have the situation summed up very well. :D |

Now OZ have a socialist Labour govt in power, give it a few years and I won't be surprised to see Kiwis coming back over here (with a few Australians in tow). Damn socialists are taking over everywhere. |
