612763 2007-11-18 20:46:00 Is that what the typical NZ-er talks like?

I see he's a Maori ...is that a hard dialect to understand for youse guys? It is a little hard for me.

Here's a talent in the form of Robin Williams. (www.youtube.com)Warning: harsh language.

612764 2007-11-18 20:52:00 It's a bit of a p***take on a rural Maori accent. Having said that, it isn't uncommon, and I notice that lots of guys who have been in the army sound like that - Maori or not. Lots of us would know someone who speaks like that, but not too many have the Billy T giggle down pat. It is a treasure when they do - cracks me up.

And no, it isn't difficult to understand for a Kiwi. Perhaps if you had led a sheltered life in the South Island and had gone to a posh school you may be a bit lost...:D

First one is a sort of "normal" NZ voice: www.youtube.com

Second one is the freezing worker p***take: www.youtube.com

612766 2007-11-18 21:05:00 I found the futher north you go, The bigger the twang, Mid island rural is different again.

My entire crew laugh just like billy T, funny lot, left alone the laughter just builds and builds, feeds on itself.

Makes for a good day at work, means they are all happy.

And my father in law drops straight into the bro talk the minute he is around his family, Leave that lot together long enough and they break into song.
