| 612675 | 2007-11-19 01:38:00 | What about Simpson - anybody got an opinion about them? Might have to buy a new washing machine soon as the old F&P is leaking again. Personally, I cant think of anything polite to say about Simpson machines. :D |

A retard with no arms and legs could fix a leak in an old F&P. Simpson are very unreliable especially the ones made in Masterton. C1 |

| 612677 | 2007-11-19 04:28:00 | Get a Fisher and Paykell 380 or 400 thats the model before the smart drive. They are very reliable (I know of one thats been going for 25 yrs without a fault) and should you need to fix it they are very very simple. You've skipped over the Gentle Annie range. I can remember years ago the family 380/400 often needing repairs to a spin clutch?? and the timer/contact switch falling apart regularly. |

I agree, had a 380 for a long time and had nothing but trouble. Have had a Smart Drive for years and no problems at all. |

I can remember years ago the family 380/400 often needing repairs to a spin clutch?? and the timer/contact switch falling apart regularly. I have worked on thousands of machines for 30 years and never had a timer fall apart. The clutch shoes last around 15 years with normal use. Gentle Annie are absolute mega crap people drop them off to me.I just take the motor out of them for wind powered generators. Yes the motor acts as a generator. When I was in East Timor we had brand new Maytag washing machines but they all died didnt like dirty water blocked, voltage flucuations burnt out control panels, didnt like the humidity shorted out, didnt like the heat burnt out, couldnt handle the dust, couldnt handle the condesation. The best one lasted 2 weeks. Sent up up 25-30 yr old 380s ex inorganic collection North Shore which had been fixed by a backyarder they all run like a charm 24 hrs a day for 3 years. C1 |

Have tried both a liquid and a powder. Thanks. Make sure you have have double rinse selected and water level at full. Then try different types of powder. Rinso was the best but Persil ok Also are you using the amount as per maunfactures instructions for top loader, are the clothes you wash mega filthy ie your husband a mechanic or kids play footy in a badly drained park? if not cut the amount of powder to how dirty the washing is C1 C1 |

| 612683 | 2008-01-12 05:11:00 | I have a Smart drive. Had it approx 8 years. Did have to replace all the panels (approx $500 worth) but that was only because we got a major leak from the hot water cylinder release valve (ajax?) that came back inside, ran along the ceiling for a metre, and came down through the washhouse light fixture... straight down on top of the washing machine panel. Have also had to replace the balance sensor (old age I think - approx $100+). Landlord still hasn't replaced the rotten gib from that either, although he did stop the leak |

| 612684 | 2008-01-12 16:50:00 | The machine is the type that sensors the load side so you don't chose the water level or anything like that so you are recommending us to follow the usuage amount of liquid or power on the box even if we are just we half fulling the machine with clothes for example two sets of work uniforms not excessively dirty work done by either of us eg hubby not a mechanic. Thanks |
