615768 2007-11-28 03:13:00 A Microsoft product manager couldn't correctly explain the "Vista Capable" marketing slogan, according to recent filings in a lawsuit that claims the company misled consumers with a prerelease Vista campaign last year.

I just saw the article and had to laugh at it so I decided to post it as well. I'm still laughing at it.
The thing is it has just been proven as fact, MS ARE confused as to what actually qualifies as Vista "capable" and if they are confused about its meaning how do you think the average customer is going to be?...up the creek

615771 2007-11-28 03:46:00 I have to agree with you there - it is a meaningless term. And a laptop with 512MB ram and onborad graphics is NOT vista ready, despite what the manufacturers may think.

A health tick type thing would go down better, eg capable of running vista well.

MS aren't exactly helping themselves by offering 6 versions of their OS to Joe Public. Keep It Simple Stupid and you will sell more.

You only have to look at PC users who are so used to being baffled by choice that are confused when asking about simple OS's that just come as ONE version - they want to know where the "options" are or what are they missing...?

615773 2007-11-28 06:06:00 A lot of people still don't know there are different versions of Vista. They get whatever comes on the shiny new computer the nice man in the shop told them to buy (which is the only reason they get vista in the first place)

And the nice, shiny, brand new printer they bought with the PC won't work with Vista until they download 400MB+ Vista drivers for it.

Woe betide them if they are on dialup.

I spent 3 hours last night trying to get a lappie with Vista, 512MB ram and onboard graphics to run faster!

I did say it was gonna cause problems, but wasn't listened to :annoyed:

Glad it's not my imagination then . . .
