615699 2007-11-27 19:46:00 At work we have 14 monitors that share around 120 -140 cameras.

The lifespan of the screens are starting to show now and replacement time is near.

What would you use....2 - 3 huge screens or stick with the 14 monitors?

615700 2007-11-27 20:26:00 Depends what the monitors and cameras are for.

Are they normal monitors or what?

And what exactly are the cameras for?

Unsure of what type of large screens our techie is looking at. At the moment we are using ViewSonic VP211b

Im a bit worried about replacing a large screen would mean we would miss alot of info until it is fixed.

615702 2007-11-27 20:37:00 I spose bigger monitors will show more screens at the same time.

Altho, that may depend on whether it uses software which can do this.

Thats if it uses software.

615703 2007-11-27 21:11:00 Yea I guess, we our own servers just for the cams too, makes things easier, but as you say compatability will be the test. Hes pretty onto it though(our techie) Im just wondering as we are nationwide, if a big screen breaksdown, we are going to be blind for quite a huge area. rob_on_guitar (4196)
615704 2007-11-27 21:26:00 I'd go for multiple smaller screens. For safety reason, because as you say - if a big screen fails, you're going to be significantly blind. qazwsxokmijn (102)
615705 2007-11-27 21:41:00 Yea, Im thinking maybe we fork out for a spare to keep in storage in the server room or something just incase. I am not sure the reliablity of big screens either (I guess depends on make & model) I havent had any experience with them. rob_on_guitar (4196)
