615516 2007-11-27 00:44:00 Most of the time my dentures are in my mouth with no adhesive which is ok for most of the time. When eating I sometimes have small pieces of food slip between the plates and my gums causing irritation. When at home I simply remove the offending plate and clean out the irritation, but I will not do that when out to dinner - the hosts do not appreciate that! So I use an adhesive. Unfortunately it is not very good. "Polident" certainly adheres - for a short while. The adhesive on the bottom plate dissolves fairly quickly and collects around the lips. It has a bad taste and if eating and drinking, after it has begun dissolving, discolours and leaves a discoloured (usually black) mess around the lips. So it is not very good and only just better than nothing.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good denture adhesive?

I also use "Steradent Extra Strength" which "removes stubborn stains to restore natural colour." Unfortunately it does not and parts of my dentures are yellow.

Any recommendations for a denture cleaner?

615518 2007-11-27 01:38:00 lol well no I dont wear them.

BUT I know some people who chuck them in Janola.

That'll definitely clean them.

At least it'll kill something, hopefully not the person.

Just remember to rinse them AFTER

615520 2007-11-27 05:39:00 I have had dentures for over thirty years.
I struggled with them for a year, but never got used to them. Then for ten years I wore them for cosmetic purposes. Took them out to eat and at home.
Since I retired they haven't been in my mouth..

No longer worry about appearances. I'm comfortable and happy

615522 2007-11-27 06:12:00 I wonder what the average age of PF1'ers is? Sounds like a topic for a Poll - Question is how many would be honest

I got a few teeth missing - what was that about going to the dentist at least every year - and not when the "pain get to much" ?
