615169 2007-11-26 01:47:00 Hi Guys

I need to buy some scales.

They are for measuring dye powder.

I want them to be able to measure amounts of 5 or 10 gms.

Do such scales exist (for such low weights) and where could I buy them from ?
I'm in Tauranga NZ

Kind Regards

615171 2007-11-26 02:37:00 Probably. Tried Jaycars?
Chemists would use such a thing.

Alternatively my husband had a thing, you tied a bag to it and it pulled down, displaying the measurement in grams. Scales sort of but not like the sort you stand on or weigh cooking ingredients with - I think they were some old Telecom thing he had.

I don't know what the proper name for it was.
You held it, attached your item to the hook on the bottom and a lever pulled down.

615173 2007-11-26 03:05:00 The Salter model 1250 'diet scales' reading to 0.1 gram would most likely have the accuracy you need, though you may want to procure/beg/borrow/steal some laboratory brass or stainless weights for a calibration check.

615174 2007-11-26 03:31:00 'course you can ask any dope dealer too . . . they use very accurate scales in their business . Most of the time they are in the gram and oz zone . . so getting one over 1 lb/0 . 45kg is not likely . . . unless you hit a very big dealer!

Here in the US having scales and any other ONE drug-related device is a felony . . . good for some serious jail time .

The hanging scale mentioned is called a "Fisherman's De-Liar ( . ebay . com/LANGLEY-FISHERMANs-DE-LIAR-M-I-B-SCALE-TAPE-MEASURE_W0QQitemZ170172384494QQihZ007QQcategoryZ11" target="_blank">cgi . ebay . com 727QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting)" .

You may consider such an item to weigh the amount of ingredients for a Yorkshire pudding.

Usually served with Beef rather than Lamb.

I will get you a recipe.

Hey, no need to explain to us! ;) ;) ;)

They are available in copious numbers on TM with accuracy suitable for retailing vaious *cough* substances. Small plastic bags suitable for "dye" are probably available as part of a "package" deal I shouldn't be surprised.

No doubt the rozzers take a keen interest in who is selling and who is buying.

Cheers

615178 2007-11-26 04:17:00 Yes my bestfriend is that guy on TVNZ Sunday last night !

He was found guilty of growing dope in his fashion factory !

He looked a complete t..t to me !

No seriously I do a bit a fabric dying !

But it does seem that there are lots of these scales on the market. I thought that going down to such low figures would be reserved for the scientific community.

regards
