Does anyone now if you can dual boot it with Vista?? so I can uninstall it after it expires on 1 March 2010 or before if I don't want it.

776993 2009-05-26 08:37:00 Yup you can do that, (you can dual boot with any OS). Just make sure you install it on another / spare partition Speedy Gonzales (78)

OK now I need to create a partition. Anyone know of any free prograams to do it? or will vista do it for me?

776995 2009-05-26 08:53:00 Vista should be able to do it for you via disk management (right click computer manage).

Make sure you back anything important up first.

That will work-but you won't be able to shrink your system partition from there.

You'll need to use Gparted (sourceforge.net) if need be.

Download the iso and burn to a CD, then boot from it and partition away:)

776998 2009-05-26 21:54:00 I have never seen a realy satisfactory dual boot set up. Sure it will work after a fashion, But initial boot is slower and it doesn't take very long for the registry to become completely confused, particularly if you are running same programs in two o/s's.
If you want proper confusion try dual booting with 32 and 64 bit o/s's.
And programs that are o/s dependant will sooner or later forget which files, drivers etc go with which o/s.
And remember that apps and games that have to be installed will ,in a lot of cases refuse to work in the second o/s.
I have seen saved files , saved on a different drive. Just see if they can be found next time you want them.
I have tried installing apps on two drives with each O/S. Doesn't take long for them to get mixed up
My answer now is to get a new hard disk and install the new o/s and programs you want to run. Then UNPLUG your C: and name the new drive C:
That at least will give you a fair trial of the new o/s

I would be very careful about loading a new o/s from a free give away disk too.. PCW or anyone else. I suggest that if you want to use Windows 7 RC that you download it from the MS site.
