(As in "Wizard prang, eh Nigel!":D) (UK) A car crash (en.wiktionary.org) without any casualties, typically minor; as in (US) fender-bender (en.wiktionary.org). (Believed to have originated in the RAF (en.wiktionary.org) during WW2). (US) (slang) crack cocaine (en.wiktionary.org). Verb to prang to crash (en.wiktionary.org), to have an accident (en.wiktionary.org) |

| 615369 | 2007-11-27 21:22:00 | I recall reading somewhere (a long time ago - can't remember where) that having quiet music on while driving actually improves your concentration. Too quiet is distracting & too loud is dangerous, but there is a good middle ground. Yes quite correct Greven. It also is supposed to work if you are studying. In fact as a teacher I used to suggest to my pupils that they try using quiet music as an aid to study. But we are all different. It never worked for me. For a while I worked for Mattels (the Barbie doll people). They believed in piping musac all day long in the offices. I just found it irritating. For that reason I don't ever use the radio while driving. Even as a passenger I hate it. But despite my earlier comments I don't feel it would be wise now to try to ban radios in cars. I was amused(?) one day when a local letter writer in The Press complained about the steps to make cell phone usage illegal in cars. "It's no worse than changing a tape in the tape deck" he reckoned. Dead right he was. In fact thousands of people throughout the world are dead because somebody was changing the tape in a car. Against that is the fact that just about every activity indulged in can cause death. In Christchurch we can no longer visit the docks as we used to do many years ago. There was one accident with a kiddy. Yes the child died. So access to the docks was stopped. But going on that reasoning we should stop all swimming, rugby, cars, cycling, golf, climbing stairs, even going to bed!! I do try to be not only logical but consider the overall picture. Sometimes I even succeed. Tom |

| 615370 | 2007-11-27 23:01:00 | When i change CD's while driving i adjust my following distance so that there's pretty much no way i could hit the car in front of me if they were to brake heavily when i take my eyes off the road for a second. my head deck is in a high position too so while looking at it for a moment i can tell if the car in front is braking using my peripheral vision. in some cars the head deck is down near the gear stick which is quite dangerous. | Jimmy D (2061) | ||
| 615371 | 2007-11-27 23:10:00 | I never change CDs while driving. I use Mp3s anyway, so only have to change a CD once every few weeks lol. I also have a remote for the headunit, so I can look at the road while changing the radio channels or whatever. Had a mate change a CD while driving, crashed into a parked car at over 50kph. That hurt apparently. Wrote his brand new car off too. Airbags FTW. |

This really boils my goat. I'm far too busy txting to do bother with CD's.Why dont people get CD stackers. That will give more time to txt while driving, or shaving, apply makeup, smoking eating, yelling at kids, reading(yes Ive seen this), drinking, and piping up while driving. Mobile Phoning/txting while driving should be part of the Drivers Licence test since it hasnt been made illegal & so many people do it. |
