614358 2007-11-25 19:33:00 Question: Are Mitsubishi Legnums as bad as many people say they are, especially in terms of fuel consumption?

I'm referring to the 2.5L V6 station wagon version, mid to late 90s.

I currently get about 9km per litre (not very impressive), and would like to see similar fuel economy if I switch cars.

The 2.5 V6 Leggie is every bit as bad, probably worse. Especially with heavy loads. They are great on long trips, but with city driving (I guess thats what you'll be doing most of the time...) they are terrible. Nice quick car, but that comes at a cost.

IMO you'd be better off with a mid 90s 2.2 Toyota Camry Wagon. Or maybe even a double cab 2WD Hilux or similar.

614359 2007-11-25 19:39:00 The legnum is one of the few wagons that can look respectable. The GDI versions have fairly good fuel consumption, but they are likely to crap out on you. Greven (91)
614360 2007-11-25 20:03:00 Why not consider a van such as Toyota Hiace? Plenty of room in the back of that to load it up, and you could even get it sign written if the budget allowed. Pete O'Neil (6584)

Thanks Pete, That might be the way to go. Then I could keep my daily driver as a nice respectable sedan.

I'll go have a look at used van prices :p.
