615778 2007-11-28 20:53:00 Most people I have been selling computers to are smart.
9 out of 10 are still wanting XP Home or Pro

The ones that want Vista are only getting it because the kids want it.

615779 2007-11-28 21:31:00 i upgraded to vista on Tuesday night - the (fresh) install went without a single hitch and took about 25-30 minutes from Booting from the DVD to seeing my desktop with a Windows experience rating of 1 . 0 (no drivers installed :o )

took me about half an hour getting everything set up the way i want it (drivers installed, internet up and running, setting up how i wanted things to look e . c . t) and turned off UAC :p

last night got everything installed including all my apps and games - and basically got everything running 100% the way i wanted it - and the only thing that went wrong was that My copy of nero didn't want to install - which vista realized as i ran the installer - and linked me to the nero site with a solution that worked perfectly

the only thing i really have to do now is install Steam and my Steam games - check i haven't missed any updates from the night before - and do a defrag - all in all the whole process from blank PC to 100% running Vista PC completed so much quicker and without error it really surprised me :D

in regards to the original topic - yes PC manufacturers sending out PC's and laptops with vista on them and only having 512mb ram and other low spec items is just plain retarded - it does not work and its a waste of time trying really - BUT if you have a PC that is capable of running vista well - it will run well and without problem if you research and do your homework before you make the jump - it really does save you from headaches in the future

I also wanted to play Bioshock in DX10 so that made me go vista too :D
