| 615509 | 2007-11-27 09:23:00 | does anyone know if those police handheld speed camera laster things keep a record on who is speeding? Like do the police get print outs from it? oh, yeah, answering the question.. forgot about that  the gun they hold will only give speed and distance, so if there's other cars about you can defend it, but the simple solution is not to speed. when you get the ticket the officer should allow you to view the gun, it's readout (digital LED display), and the calibration papers. if he won't let you then he can't prove it so can't make the ticket stick |

Now it's 40. since when?.... good thing i was keeping to 140 then (unless there's a "copbreaker" ahead) unfortunately the demerit system means that 20 will be enough for me to lose my licence until june next year:( EDIT: actually, they take 2 years to expire don't they? june 2009 then! |

The accuracy cannot be faulted and there's no defense in court if you protest the readings, which are recorded and instantly sent to a computer at the station for the officer to use as he sees fit either in court or for an accident. Well..Wayne was cruising down the road in his jacked up four-wheel drive Blazer, big tires and all, at about 40 over the speed limit and got hit by the laser. He decided to fight the ticket. In the court room, he asked to have certain credentials of the citing officer brought to the record. He found out that the officer was a crack shot and had high marks on the pistol range and had a good record and lots of good tickets and conviction rates. He then asked the officer which part of the vehicle was actually "hit" by the laser. The officer said he didn't know, but that the reading he got was from the vehicle itself..slam dunk, he said...it was concrete and not incorrect. My buddy asked the officer if he knew exactly what part of the vehicle was struck by the laser. Again the officer said he was sure it was the whole vehicle. My friend, a laser expert, told the court that there was no way that the "whole vehicle" was the target as the laser had a 3 inch diameter contact zone in 1/4 mile and since the gun was less than 1/8 mile away, the point of laser impact was only 2 inches in diameter. He then told the court that since the officer had cited the whole vehicle the ticket was null and void. The final evidence was that my buddy said he could have had the top part of his front tire read by the laser, which although correct would not indicate the true vehicle speed but instead, the rolling toward the laser gun velocity and was inaccurate and therefore inadmissible in the citation. The officer could not state which part of the vehicle he had caught speeding and the case was dismissed. :D |

First, of course, he had to take an eye sight test The optician showed him a card with the letters 'C Z W I X N O S T A C Z.' 'Can you read this?' the optician asked. 'Read it?' the Polish guy replied, 'I know the guy.' |
